One thing that I've realized is that people don't start their own renewable energy solar energy projects because they become intimidated by the projects. People tend to become intimidated by solar energy projects that look hard. But people would be amazed to know that solar power is less complex than it seems to be. Give it a try, and I'm sure that once you see how easy it is, you're going to want to do this for the rest of your life. That's what happened to me when I tried it.

At first I started out slow with my solar energy projects. I thought that it would be best for me to learn the ropes before I tried to tackle on the harder projects. But an amazing thing happened; none of the projects got any harder for me. The more complicated projects just involved a few more steps, but they were all pretty easy.

So with this in mind, let me give you five ideas for some easy renewable energy, solar projects. You can actually do this in the course of a weekend.

  1. Solar oven - This is a device that cooks food using solar energy, and it's used outdoors. This is a great project for your family, to get them used to the power of solar cooking. There are lots of different ones that you can try to build, and I've even used one for camping.
  2. Solar water heater - This is a project that most people are fearful of. But you'd be amazed to know that this is pretty easy, particularly if you get an easy design. This is a very inexpensive project, and it's been useful to save a lot of money on your home energy bill.
  3. Solar pool heater - This is pretty much the same as a solar water heater. These are just used for different purposes. There are lots of designs for you to pick out, depending on which one is better for your home, and which one is better for the pool. You can build for example a heat exchanger out of PVC pipe. The pool pump circulates the water, and does all the work for you.
  4. Solar panels - This is another renewable energy project that many people think that is difficult, but they are amazed to know that these are easy to make. All you have to do is connect solar cells, and just attach them to a panel. Once you build one panel, you can build up to 10 more, and it's that easy. You can use these panels for a lot of applications around the house. For example, you can build yourself a battery charger, or your own solar power system. You can make them portable, and use them for camping, your boat, or for a RV.
  5. Solar powered landscape lights - This is one renewable energy project that can add value to your home. Not only this, but it adds curb appeal to the home as well. Instead of digging holes in your yard and putting wiring through it, just string together some solar power lights. Each light is powered by a cell. The great thing about these is that they're flexible, and you can move them around as needed. Plus once you move, just take them with you.

William Craft is a green energy enthusiast and is very interested in energy efficiency and energy saving. He has a website dedicated to two types of renewable energy that are solar energy and wind energy. There you find pictures, step-by-step diagrams and schematics that will show you how solar energy projects are done. There is even a Video Library where you can navigate on.
